Because sometimes you don't get to where you set out to go. Or even halfway there. But brutal roads can also be beautiful.

After our arctic trek out of Wyoming, we head back into "open ocean" — and this time, it's made of lava.

We are in awe.

Here our wheely wanderings take us south out of Jackson, towards a little mountain-side community where we plan to wait out the weather.
